    St. Joseph's Mission Cemetery

    Madeline St., west of Bond St.
    Bertrand, MI


    Here in 1850, French nuns established St. Mary's Academy which was later moved to South Bend, IN. The old mission church (1837) which stood inside the cemetery gate was torn down in 1911. Madeline Bertrand's gravestone lies flat in the northwest section of the cemetery.
